Design of the Open-Air Decorative Pergola Structure of the Adora Magic City Cruise Ship
A mini golf course was set up in the open-air deck area of the first cruise ship in China, aiming to pro-vide tourists with a pleasant place to relax. In response to the requirements of strength, aesthetics and functionality of the designed structure, the design of the open-air pergola structure was presented. The design optimized and strengthened the parts of the structure through the simulation analysis of the finite element model to ensure that its overall Mises stress was less than 169MPa,which met strength requirements, and it was certified by Lloyd's Register of Shipping. The actual fabrication was completed according to the design and successfully applied to the first self-built cruise ship—"Adora Magic City"in China. This successful case provides valuable reference experience and suggestions for the design of the open-air structure of future luxury cruise ships.
