In May 2022,the Biden administration officially launched the"Indo-Pacific Economic Framework"to fill the diplomatic vacuum in Southeast Asia over the past five years.As one of the thirteen initial member states,Singapore would play an important role in key areas of this framework,such as digital economy development and enhancing regional supply chain resilience.From the"Indo-Pacific Strategy"to the"Indo-Pacific Economic Framework",the Biden administration is increasingly valuing the diplomatic status of Southeast Asian countries and Singapore's role in geopolitical activities in the region.At the same time,the lack of a dispute resolution mechanism in the"Indo-Pacific Economic Framework"and the pressure of restructuring geopolitical rules led by the United States behind it have led Singapore to hold a certain degree of reservation towards this strategy.Singapore's value chain analysis of the"Indo-Pacific Economic Framework"and its assessment of the overall interests of Southeast Asia from the perspective of"ASEAN position consistency"will greatly affect the strategic resilience of ASEAN countries and the strategic integrity of the"Indo-Pacific Economic Framework",and have a profound impact on Singapore's new strategic position in the Biden administration's Southeast Asian diplomatic framework.
