Reconstructing the Significance of Existence in The Unbearable Lightness of Being from the Perspective of Readers'Response Criticism
This article aims to reconstruct the meaning of existence in Milan Kundera's novel The Unbear-able Lightness of Being from the perspective of readers'response criticism.Through the analysis of char-acters and relationships,it explores the implications of existence and prompts reflection on states of being and the value of life.It reveals how the work guides readers to reconstruct their personal sense of exist-ence,showcasing the authenticity and dimensions of"being"as well as the process of self-fulfillment,embodying the motive of a life.Kundera uses characters'rebellion, introspection, and self-awakening to critique an idyllic desire and ponder death. This article emphasizes the novel's deconstruction of nihilistic paradoxes and reconstruction of life wisdom, offering readers a new perspective on the meaning of human existence.Ultimately,it is suggested that the"weight"of life must be manifested through relationships with others;only by establishing and maintaining these connections can the motives of life become appar-ent,and the meaning of existence truly be comprehended.
