Objective:To explore the effect of chairside computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing(CAD/CAM)onlay prostheses in the treatment of elderly patients with large molar teeth defects. Methods:A total of 75 elderly patients with large molar teeth defects in our hospital from July 2016 to June 2020 were selected, chairside CAD/CAM onlay prostheses were performed after endodontic treatment. The modified United States public health service standards(USPHS)were used to evaluate the restoration effect at the 12th month and 24th month after restoration.Patients'satisfaction was investigated at the 24th month after operation.Detected the levels of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)and matrix metalloproteinase 8(MMP-8)in gingival crevicular fluid at the 12th month and 24th month after restoration. Results:The qualified rate was 97.33%and 93.33%at the 12th and 24th month after restoration, respectively. At the 24th month after restoration, the satisfaction rate of patients to the color, shape and comfort of the prostheses was 98.67%,97.33%and 100%,respectively.The levels of TNF-α and MMP-8 at the 12th and 24th month after restoration were lower than those before restoration(P<0.05).Conclusion:The chairside CAD/CAM onlay prostheses have a good effect and high patient satisfaction rate on the restoration which can be used as an effective treatment for elderly patients with large molar teeth defects.
