Twenty posterior teeth with the subgingival defects of ≥2 mm and<4 mm were randomly divided into the Control Group A(crown lengthening+quartz fiber post+porcelain crown)and the Experimental Group B(modified pure titanium post+porcelain crown),and observed for one year. There were no significant differences in gingival index and gingival sulcus bleeding index between Group A and Group B(all P>0.05);probing depth of Group B after repairation decreased significantly(P<0.05),but was not significant different with Group A(P>0.05);tooth mobility of Group A increased significantly and the height of gingival papilla decreased significantly after crown lengthening(all P<0.05);while there was no significant change in Group B before and after repairation(P>0.05),significantly better than Group A(P<0.05).During the observation period of this study, the modified titanium post had a good effect on preservation of subgingival defect teeth, better than that of crown lengthening.
