Accurate measurement of tooth color is an important part of oral aesthetic restoration.Commonly used color measurement methods are divided into visual color measurement and instrument color measurement.Visual color measurement is easy to operate and economical,but it is susceptible to a variety of subjective and objective factors(such as environment,light,experience,visual fatigue and psychology,and so on).Instrument color measurement can convert the color of the surface of the object into a specific value,which has the advantages of objective,accurate,rapid,quantitative and repeatable spectrophotometric colorimeter as a commonly used color measuring instrument,which comes with a standard light source,is not affected by the environment and the operator.Given that the measurement time is short,itcan specifically quantify the color and transparency of the object,make the color measurement results more accurate,help us to master the law of color matching,improve the success rate of restoration.At present,it has been widely used in the field of dentistry,and the commonly used Spectrocolorimeter are:Vita Easyshade,SpectroShade,Shadepilot,Crystaleye color measurement system and so on.This article aims to reviewing the application and research progress of spectrophotometric colorimeter in oral aesthetic restoration.
