Due to the unique anatomical structure of the velopharyngeal region,many factors can lead to velopharyngeal insufficiency.The treatment plan needs to be based on an accurate evaluation of the patient's velopharyngeal closure status and function.With the continuous development of modern technology,the methods for evaluating speech and swallowing function in patients with palatopharyngeal dysfunction are constantly improving and developing.This article aims to provide a review of the causes,treatments,and current progress in functional assessment techniques commonly used in clinical practice for velopharyngeal insufficiency.It also aims to provide assistance and guidance for the development of personalized treatment plans for patients with velopharyngeal insufficiency.
