Objective:To establish a specialized electronic case database of oral implantology for patient management and data analysis.Methods:The database was designed to include four modules:patient information,treatment details,follow-up records,and attachments.The database was designed to possess functions of data retrieval,data storage,confidentiality of patient information and statistical analysis.Paper-based medical records of patients treated by a single surgeon from January 1,2001 to December 31,2021,were input into the database by five trained dentists.Results:The treatment records of 4,349 patients,including 6,131 cases and 8,764 dental implants have been stored in our specialized oral implantology electronic case database.This database achieved(1)visualization of the status of medical record entry and patient treatment progress;(2)multiple retrieval modes for basic patient information and treatment details;(3)permanent data storage;(4)controlled access authority of the database based on different user roles and(5)statistical analysis at patient,case,and implant levels,and diverse data export formats.Conclusion:A specialized electronic case database of oral implantology restoration was established to facilitate the management of dental implant medical records,assist kinds of clinical research and to be served as a foundation of a single disease database.
