Experimental study and application on mechanical properties of confined concrete column for roof and gangue rib support
As a primary means to control the deformation of roof and ensure the stability of gangue rib in non-pillar mining with automatically formed roadway, roof and gangue rib control equipment has the problems of high cost, small quantity, and suitability only for temporary support. Therefore, the support technology of circular confined lightweight concrete column for roof and gangue rib support(CCLC)is proposed as an alternative to the roof and gangue rib control equipment.A comparative test was conduc-ted on the mechanical properties of CCLC and U29 steel under eccentric compression.Combined with numerical calculation methods, the effects of different section parameters and material strength on the mechanical properties of CCLC were studied. The results show that under the same steel content, the ul-timate bearing capacity of CCLC is 1.95-2.25 times than that of U29 steel, with an initial stiffness 1.34-1.77 times higher. For different thickness of the steel tube, diameters of the steel tube, concrete strength, and steel strength schemes, the growth rates of the ultimate bearing capacity of CCLC are 29%-106%,173%-954%,4%-14%,and 15%-28%,respectively.Particularly,the diameter of the steel tube has a significant influence on the ultimate load-bearing capacity of CCLC.Based on the above research results, considering the cost performance and on-site construction conditions,CCLC was select-ed and designed, and the confined concrete support technology has been applied in the project site, and good application results have been achieved.
