Variation characteristics of relative permittivity of coal rock media under radar detection
In this study, the numerical model of radar detection for coal rock media was established by gprMax software. With this model, the variation characteristics of relative permittivity(RP)of the coal seam under radar detection with ultra-wide center frequency were studied, and the correlations between the RP of coal rock media and their porosity, water content, and radar center frequency were revealed. The results show that the RP of the coal seam decreases with the increase of radar center frequency.Spe-cifically,it drops rapidly under a radar center frequency, and gradually approaches a fixed value with the continuous increase of radar center frequency. The RP of coal rock media falls with the increase of their porosity and rises with the increase of their water content, and the change in water content has a more significant effect on the RP.Meanwhile, the high-frequency radar wave is more sensitive to the change in water content. The research results can provide a basis for further promoting the application of radar detection technology in the identification of coal-rock interface.
