At present,the Chinese academic research on citizen science mostly relies on Western examples,and the attention paid to domestic'citizen science'practices is kindly low.The practical characteristics and cognitive situation of domestic"citizen science"projects are not very clear.In response,this study attempts to summarize the practical characteristics and cognitive situation of domestic citizen science via LDA analyzing the project summaries and funding reasons texts of 176 domestic citizen science projects in the field of ecology.The study found that both the implementers(ecological scientists)and funders(foundations)of China's ecological citizen science projects have a significant cognitive bias towards pragmatism and instrumentalism,and there is a widespread cognitive trend of"deficit models",lacking in-depth understanding of the mode of"citizen science"and its embedded"dialogue/engagement"mechanism.This highlights the lack of interaction between the academic research of practices within Chinese"citizen science"field.Therefore,it is necessary and urgent to effectively promote communication,dialogue,and information sharing between academic research and practical practices in the field of domestic"citizen science".
