The Impact of Mobile Internet Development on the Income Gap between Urban and Rural Residents:An Empirical Study Based on Spatial Panel Econometric Models
Exploring the income gap effect of mobile Internet development between urban and rural residents is of great significance for strengthening the digital economy to enable common prosperity and promoting the improvement of people's quality of life.Based on the provincial panel data from 2014 to 2021,this paper uses the spatial panel econometric model to empirically study the impact of China's mobile Internet development on the income gap between urban and rural residents. The research results show that the development of mobile Internet has a significant positive direct effect on the income gap between urban and rural residents.Mobile Internet development will expand the income gap between urban and rural residents, but the impact of mobile Internet development on the income gap between urban and rural residents does not have a significant spatial spillover effect. It is necessary to strengthen the role of mobile Internet development in narrowing the income gap between urban and rural residents through infrastructure construction, industrial transformation and upgrading, and human capital upgrading.
