The Impact and Effect of Enterprise Digital Technology Adoption:Review and Prospect
In the era of the digital economy,digital technology adoption has become a critical pathway for enterprises to establish competitive advantages and is essential for their survival and growth.Scholars have engaged in valuable discussions on the impact of digital technology adoption on organizations.However,due to varying theoretical perspectives and application contexts,there is still no consensus on the conceptual understanding and economic consequences of digital technology adoption,and the exploration of its mechanisms remains insufficient.To address these gaps,this paper focuses on three questions:"What is it?","Why does it have an impact?",and"How does it have an impact?"First,we review and summarize existing definitions of enterprise digital technology adoption and propose our definition from the perspective of technology adoption behavior.Next,we analyze the dimensions and levels of digital technology adoption to construct an analytical framework for enterprises.Then,we review the impact effects,intermediary mechanisms,and boundary conditions of digital technology adoption across three aspects:the"cost reduction and efficiency enhancement"effect,innovation effect,and value-added effect.Finally,we suggest four future research directions with significant theoretical and practical implications.
