Rationally Assessing the Short-term and Long-term Impacts of AI
Historically,universal purpose technologies have played a crucial role in advancing the develop-ment of human society.Since AI technology has the important characteristics of general purpose technolo-gy such as universal applicability,progressiveness and innovation breeding,it can be recognized as a new general purpose technology,and thus it can be predicted that it will have a significant impact on the devel-opment of society and economy in the longer term.However,the current development of AI technology is still in the"seeding stage",and many of the factors that support the conditions for its role are not yet in place,which creates the appearance that AI technology is irrelevant.In view of the above,we should uti-lize policy instruments to create conditions for the full play of the impact of AI technology,and actively promote the transfer of this technology from the"seeding stage"to the"harvesting stage".At the same time,it is also necessary to pay attention to the possible problems brought by AI such as"technical unem-ployment",and make relevant plans in advance.
