The Law of Value in Machine Production:Capital Beyond the"Fragment on Machines"
In the"Fragment on Machines"of the Outline of the Critique of Political Economy, based on the conflict between mechanization and direct labor,Marx predicted that the law of value would be ineffec-tive in mechanized production, leading to the collapse of capitalist society. This thesis, while promoting Marx's theoretical turn, also has certain limitations and has led to a variety of interpretations by later generations. In Capital, based on the theory of labor value,Marx elucidated the production mechanism of constant capital and relative surplus value, and outlined the manifestation of the law of value under the conditions of mechanized production, thus transcending the"machine theory fragment"and revealing the laws of the capitalist economy and society in a clearer, more systematic and in-depth manner, and initi-ating a thorough critique of political economy,as well as the development of the theory of capitalism. It opens up a thorough critique of political economy and develops historical materialism, realizing the unity of science and revolution at a higher level, which is of far-reaching significance.
