Hypertension is a common disease in China. In recent years, with the increasing pressure of people''s life, the prevalence rate of this disease has been increasing year by year, and it has become one of the top chronic diseases in China. At present, there are nearly 200 million hypertension patients in our country, which pose a great threat to people physically and psychologically. Hypertension is one of the main causes of end-stage renal disease (ESRD), so its early diagnosis and treatment has become a focus of clinical research in the medical field. This article reviews the recent research progress on the characteristics, early diagnosis and intervention of hypertension in the elderly.
