The modern technology development makes land surveying and mapping work as the focus of people's attention.Because there are many surveying and mapping techniques that can be selected during land surveying and mapping,it is necessary to select appropriate surveying and mapping method according to the actual situation.Only in this way,the efficiency and accuracy of surveying and mapping can be more guaranteed while the quality of surveying and mapping is improved.As a common technology in land surveying and mapping,geographic information system can significantly improve the quality of land surveying and mapping.This paper analyzes the geographic information system and summarizes the role of geographic information system in land surveying and mapping.
