Analysis and Reflection on the Current Situation of Elderly Care in Ethnic Areas of Western Guangxi
Purpose To analyze the current situation and existing problems of elderly care in ethnic minority areas,thereby providing a basis for promoting the healthy and sustainable development of elderly care in western Guangxi.Method A self-designed questionnaire was used to survey a total of 710 elderly people in two districts and three counties of Baise City from June to August 2022,in order to understand their current situation and demand for elderly care services.Results The survey showed that 81.64%of the respondents live in rural areas,with most having attained a middle school education or less;87.50%are employed in agriculture and generally earn a low monthly income.8127%prefer to receive elderly care at home.Among the demands for elderly care services,the need for medical care is the highest,followed by daily activities and spiritual comfort,with daily care being the least demanded.Conclusion Elderly people in ethnic areas predominantly prefer home-based care,but multiple factors hinder the development of such care in reality.There are also difficulties in implementing community-based and institutional care in these areas,necessitating governmental intervention in the development of the local elderly care industry.
