Investigation on Anxiety and Depression among Students in Traditional Chinese Medicine Colleges during the Epidemic of Infectious Diseases
Objective Taking the students of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine as the research object,this paper explores the anxiety and depression experienced by students during the epidemic period of infectious diseases on campus,and provides a basis for subsequent psychological counseling and refined campus management.Methods Using the PHQ-9 depression scale and GAD-7 generalized anxiety scale,700 students from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine were surveyed with questionnaires.A total of 700 questionnaires were distributed,and 690 valid questionnaires were collected,with a questionnaire recovery rate of 98.6%.Results 68.98%of students had almost no or mild depression,31.01%had moderate to severe depression,80%had almost no or mild anxiety,and 20%had moderate to severe anxiety.During the epidemic of infectious diseases,students exhibited a more pronounced depressive state.Among them,compared with boys,girls had more severe anxiety and depression;Traditional Chinese medicine majors had more severe anxiety than non-Traditional Chinese medicine majors;and students on campus had more severe depression than those outside school.Under different health states,the highest scores for anxiety and depression were observed among students with illnesses,while those who had fully recovered had the lowest scores for anxiety and depression.In addition,students with a certain understanding of infectious diseases had the highest levels of anxiety and depression.Conclusion During the epidemic of infectious diseases,students'anxiety and depression levels are high.Schools should take targeted measures to improve students'mental health,actively promote psychological reconstruction,and mitigate their sustained impact on students'psychology.
