Protection and Utilization of Geographical Indications for Chinese Medicinal Materials in Chongqing
Objective To investigate the current situation of geographical indications(GIs)for Chinese medicinal materials in Chongqing and provide references for their protection.Methods Utilizing the trademark online service system of the State Intellectual Property Office,the National Geographic Indication Agricultural Products Query System,the national standard information public service platform,the national group standard information platform,and other relevant systems,with"geographical indication"as the search keyword,the search was conducted up to May 31,2024.Focusing on GIs of Chinese medicinal materials,analyzed them from the perspectives of regional distribution,registrants,utilization rates,and standard establishment.Results There are a total of 32 GIs for Chinese medicinal materials in Chongqing,comprising 25 GI certification trademarks,5 GI agricultural products,and 2 GI protection products,covering 14 districts and counties in Chongqing.Most of these were registered in 2020,and there are 6 GI-related standards.Conclusions The total number of GIs for Chinese medicinal materials in Chongqing is small,the utilization rate of specific GI products is low,and the number of local standards is insufficient.It is recommended to strengthen the cultivation,protection,and application of GIs for Chinese medicinal materials,accelerate the development of relevant standards,and promote the integrated development of multiple formats.
