Overview of Research on Selenium Enrichment in Main Grain Crops
Selenium is very important to humans, animals, and plants. However, excessive or inadequate supplementation may pose certain risks. Both humans and animals can acquire selenium through plant consumption. Therefore, this paper primarily presents a summary of recent research findings on selenium-enriched crops such as rice, corn, and wheat. The appropriate application of selenium fertilizer not only indirectly fulfills the human body's selenium requirements but also enhances crop yield, improves crop quality and grain plumpness while reducing heavy metals absorption by crops.Furthermore, when combined with specific trace elements, fertilization can facilitate mutual absorption.Through a comprehensive analysis presented in this paper,it aims to provide guidance for individuals to pay attention to and adequately supplement selenium while serving as a reference for crop cultivation in regions characterized by low selenium levels and high heavy metals content.
