Research on and Inspiration from Engels's Three Theoretical Perspectives Expressed in His Study on"Russian Issues"
Since the 1870s,Engels had attached great importance to the study of the development path of Russian society. In his related works and letters,Engels put forward three important theoretical per-spectives:First,a society at a lower level of developing stage could not solve the problems encountered at a higher level of social developing stage.Second, rural communes were the natural foundation of the orien-tal autocratic system.Third, the consequences of capitalism had to be viewed on a grand historical scale. These theoretical perspectives of Engels reflect not only the spiritual essence of historical materialism, but also his profound insights into the characteristics of the social development path of the underdeveloped countries such as Russia, which can provide useful reference and inspiration for China's ongoing moderniza-tion construction.
