Objective Diffusion kurtosis imaging(DKI)was used to observe the microstructural changes of white mat-ter in patients with diabetic retinopathy(DR).Methods A total of28 patients with DR(DR Group)and 28 healthy vol-unteers(HC)matched with their age,sex and education level were selected for whole brain DKI examination.Relevant inde-xes were extracted from the white matter regions with differences, and the correlation between the changes of brain white matter structure and clinical data was analyzed. Results Compared with HC group, the FA value of the knee, corpus callo-sum body, corpus callosum pressing part, bilateral anterior and superior radiative crown, right anterior and posterior limbs of the internal capsule, and right fronto-occipital tract in DR Group were decreased(P<0.05).AK values of cerebellar middle peduncle, bilateral medial corticospinal tract, bilateral medial colliculus, bilateral cerebral peduncle and left anterior capsule were significantly increased(P<0.05).The RK values of the right anterior corona, right upper corona, corpus callosum and left posterior thalamus were decreased.Correlation analysis showed that the course of disease in DR Group was negatively correlated with the FA value of the posterior limb of the right internal capsule(r=-0.400,P<0.05).Conclusion DKI technique can detect the change of white matter structure in DR Patients, and the change of white matter structure in different brain areas has a certain correlation with the disease course of patients.
