Quantitative Analysis of Left Ventricular Myocardial Strain in Long-Term Excessive Drinkers by Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging Feature Tracking Technology
Objective To quantitatively analyze of left ventricular myocardial strain damage in long-term excessive drinkers based on cardiac magnetic resonance feature tracking technology(CMR-FT),and to investigate the correlation be-tween left ventricular myocardial strain and the daily alcohol intake. Methods The 42 long-term excessive drinkers(drinking group)and 21 healthy volunteers(control group)with no drinking history were performed by cardiac magnetic resonance imaging(MRI).Two groups of left ventricular myocardial anisotropic strain, systolic strain rate, and peak dis-placement were analyzed using CMR-FT.According to the daily alcohol intake of the drinking group, they were divided into mild, moderate, and severe excessive drinking groups.Statistical analysis was used to compare the differences in left ventric-ular overall myocardial strain parameters among the three groups. The Spearman test were used to analyze the correlation between left ventricular myocardial strain and the daily alcohol intake in the alcohol drinking group,P-value<0.05 was taken as the statistically significant difference. Results The overall radial strain, circumferential strain, and longitudinal strain of the left ventricle in the drinking group were(25.15±11.83)%,(-13.94±6.82)%and(-11.99±5.67)%,respectively,which were lower than those in the control group. The systolic strain rate and peak displacement were also lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).There were significant differences in the parameters of left ven-tricular isotropic strain between mild, moderate and severe drinkers(P<0.05).Left ventricular radial strain was negatively correlated with the daily alcohol intake(r=-0.78,P<0.001),while circumferential and longitudinal strain was opposite(r values were 0.77 and 0.82,P<0.001).Conclusion CMR-FT has certain clinical application value in quantitative a-nalysis of left ventricular myocardial strain damage caused by excessive alcohol consumption, and left ventricular myocardial strain has a certain correlation with daily alcohol intake.
