Synthesis and Plasticity of Epoxy-ethyl Levulinate Monoglyceride Ketal
A new compound of epoxy-ethyl levulinate monoglyceride ketal(ELMG)with potential plasticizing performance was preliminarily prepared by esterification, ketoacetylation and epoxidation through three synthesis processes using ethyl levulinate, glycerol, oleic acid and other bulk biological chemicals as raw materials. Then it was compressed into film with polyvinyl chloride(PVC),epoxy soybean oil(ESO)and stearate. The effect of the synthesis process on the structure of ELMG and the addition of ELMG on the properties of PVC film were investigated by FT-IR,XRD,DSC and universal testing machine. The results showed that the ELMG prepared by first ketal reaction, then esterification reaction and finally epoxidation reaction was more suitable, and the ELMG was successfully synthesized.ELMG had a certain damage to PVC crystallization, and the effect of ELMG combined with ESO was significantly improved.ELMG combined with ESO could significantly improve the plasticizing properties of PVC films. The elongation at break of ELMG50/PVC film plasticized by 50%ELMG was 316.5%,which was 98%of ESO/PVC film, and the tensile strength was 24.63 MPa,which was 89%of ESO/PVC film. The migration of PVC film was also significantly improved by ELMG compounded with ESO.The mass loss rate of ELMG50/PVC film in soybean oil was 0.71%,which was only 67%of that of ESO/PVC film.
