Research on the application of edge positioning device in frozen slides
Objective:To study the comparison of time and effectiveness between the application of edge positioning device and traditional methods for making frozen slides,and analyze the application value of edge positioning device in simul-taneous inspection of multiple edges.Methods:Fifteen cases who underwent surgery and required intraoperative rapid frozen edge preparation were enrolled at the Department of Oral Maxillofacial Head and Neck Oncology,Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital between June 1 and 3,2023.Randomly divide into experimental,control,and conventional groups,and evaluate the time,diameter difference,and completeness using three different methods.Results:The experimental group took significantly less time than the conventional group(P=0.001)and longer than the control group(P=0.166).The diameter difference in the experimental group was significantly smaller than that in the control group(P<0.001),and there was no significant differ-ence compared to the conventional group(P=0.181).The integrity score of edge in the experimental group was higher than that in the control group(P=0.001),and there was no statistical difference between the experimental group and the conven-tional group(P= 0.538).Conclusion:The surgical edge positioning device is superior to traditional methods in terms of time,and is similar in diameter difference and integrity to traditional methods.It can be used as a choice for intraoperative frozen production of multiple edges.
