The effectiveness of customized dual-layer shade guides in the aesthetic resin restorations of anterior tooth
Objective:To discuss the effectiveness of customized dual-layer shade guides in the aesthetic resin resto-ration of Class Ⅲ and Ⅳ anterior tooth defects. Methods:A retrospective collection of 124 cases with anterior tooth Class Ⅲor Ⅳ defects was reviewed.Among these,22 cases were completed with the assistance of VITA shade guides,44 cases with single-layer resin shade guides, and 58 cases with customized dual-layer shade guides.Based on the four weeks'follow-up da-ta,the restorations were evaluated using the modified USPHS criteria for integrity, color match, marginal discoloration, and gingival health.A statistical analysis was then performed. Results:The occurrences of failure in the VITA shade group,single-layer resin shade group, and dual-layer resin shade group were 2 cases,2 cases, and 1 case, respectively, all of which exhibi-ted severe color mismatch. The success rates of restoration in the three groups were 90.9%,95.5%,and 98.3%,respective-ly,with an overall restoration success rate of 96.0%.Conclusion:No significant clinical differences were observed among the use of VITA shade guides,single-layer resin shade guides, and dual-layer resin shade guides.
