Application of modified Beck oral rating scale in patients with oral and maxillofacial surgery
Objective:Based on the evaluation scores of the modified Beck oral rating scale, suitable oral care plans for patients are selected to provide theoretical basis and guidance for clinical oral care work. Methods:A total of 212 patients undergoing oral and maxillofacial surgery admitted to Huangshi Central Hospital from January 2022 to January 2023 were se-lected.They were randomly divided into a control group and an experimental group, with 106 patients in each group, using a random number table method. The control group received routine oral care methods. The experimental group used the im-proved Beck oral rating scale for evaluation, developed oral care programmes, and nurses implemented nursing measures. The results of oral odor score, oral complication rate and oral cleanliness were compared between the two groups on the 1st,3rd and 5th day after operation. Results:According to the modified Beck oral rating scale, the patients in the experimental group had a lower postoperative oral odor score than those in the control group(P<0.05),and the incidence of oral complications was lower in the experimental group than in the control group, the oral cleanliness of the two groups was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:The modified Beck oral rating scale was used to evaluate the oral health of the patients, and the oral care plan was made based on the score,it can improve the postoperative oral cleanliness of patients undergoing oral and maxillofacial surgery, and reduce the postoperative wound infection rate and oral odor.
