The correlation between childhood caries and oral Helicobacter pylori and saliva trace elements
Objective:To analyzes the relationship between oral Helicobacter pylori(HP)infection, saliva trace ele-ments,and childhood caries. Methods:A total of 124 children with dental caries admitted to our hospital from February 2021 to March 2023 were selected as the study group, and 124 non-caries children who were treated for other reasons during the same period were selected as the control group.Oral Helicobacter pylori, saliva pH,sodium, calcium, potassium and fluorine were detected in both groups. The HP-positive proportion,DNA copy number of HP,saliva pH and the content of sodium,cal-cium,potassium,fluorine and nitric oxide(NO)in the children were compared.Spearman correlation analysis was used to as-sess the correlation between the severity of dental caries and oral HP infection, trace elements in saliva. Results:The copy number of D5 HP-DNA and the proportion of HP positivity>D4>D3>D2>D1 showed statistically significant differences(P<0.05).The NO level in the study group was higher than that in the control group, and the pH value was lower in the control group(P<0.05);NO levels D5>D4>D3>D2,pH values D5<D4<D3<D2,differences statistically significant(P<0.05).The copy number of HP-DNA was positively correlated with NO level, negatively correlated with pH value(P<0.05).The condi-tion of dental caries was positively correlated with HP-DNA copy number,NO level, negatively correlated with pH value(P<0.05).Conclusion:Children with dental caries have varying degrees of HP infection and changes in trace elements in saliva and saliva pH,as well as the condition of dental caries was positively correlated with HP-DNA copy number,NO level,nega-tively correlated with saliva pH.
