A comparative study of the clinical efficacy of two impression materials for complete dentures in the neutral zone
Objective:Comparison of the differences in clinical efficacy of two impression materials(Kingmac Algi-nate and Injectable A-type silicone rubber impressions)used to make complete dentures in the neutral zone. Methods:From January 2021 to October 2022,20 edentulous patients attending the Department of Dentistry of the Affiliated Hospital of Chuanbei Medical College were selected as the study subjects. Two neutral zone complete dentures were made for the same patient using two impression materials according to the standard procedure of neutral zone denture making and worn for 4 weeks, and a questionnaire was designed to evaluate the differences in patient satisfaction and physician satisfaction between the two denture materials using the visual simulation scoring method. Results:Patient satisfaction was higher for both neutral zone denture types, with no statistical difference, but both were higher than the old denture(P<0.05).The difference in mas-ticatory efficiency absorbance values between the two neutral zone dentures was not significant, and was also higher than that of the old denture(P<0.05).In the satisfaction survey of physicians, the overall satisfaction, satisfaction with the handling time of the impression material and the difficulty of obtaining impressions in the neutral zone were higher in the silicone rub-ber group than in the gold-mark alginate group(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in the satisfaction results of the fluidity of impression materials and the effect of neutral zone impression making. Conclusion:The neutral zone denture made by the two materials has good clinical results and has good application prospects.Silicone rubber impression material has more advantages in neutral zone technology and is simple to operate, which can be further promoted in clinical use.
