Analysis of the prevalence of recurrent aphthous ulcers in an anticoagulant/antiplatelet medication cohort:a single-center,cross-sectional pre-survey
Objective:The study aims to investigate the prevalence of recurrent aphthous ulcer(RAU)in a cardiovas-cular disease(CVD)medication-using population and to observe its correlation with medication. Methods:Convenience sam-pling method was used to collect the information of CVD medication population in the department of cardiovascular diseases.Basic information of demography, condition of RAU patients, and CVD medication history were recorded. The multivariate lo-gistic regression method was used in this study for information discription and statistical analysis. Results:A total of 321 peo-ple were surveyed,of whom 47(14.64%)had RAU.There was no significant difference of the correlation between age,gen-der,body mass index, and type of cardiovascular disease, and the prevalence of RAU.The frequency and duration of RAU le-sions(9/28,32.14%)significantly increased in the gorup of combination use of aspirin-clopidogrel,when comparing to that(42/293,14.33%)of in the other groups without using aspirin-clopidogrel(P=0.013).There was a negative correlation be-tween combination usage of statins with aspirin or clopidogrel, and the prevalence of RAU(11.44%in the medicated group and 20.0%in the non-medicated group,P<0.05).There was no statistical statistical correlations between other types of med-ication and the prevalence of RAU.Conclusion:The overall prevalence of RAU is higher in the CVD medication group than that in the general population, but its underlying mechanism remains unclear.Combination use of aspirin and clopidogrel might increase the severity of RAU lesion, while further evidence should be provided through carrying out a large cohort study.
