Opportunities and challenges under the new healthcare reform:how to implement urinary incontinence prevention and treatment in the community
Urinary incontinence significantly affects the physiological, psychological, and social health of eld-erly patients, making it one of the world's top five threats to human health.Faced with a vast patient population, community medical institutions can undertake the majority of early screening and treatment for patients with mild symptoms. However, the current situation of urinary incontinence management in China is as follows.First, awareness, treatment rates, and rehabilitation levels among urinary incontinence patients are far below the stand-ards of developed countries.Screening rates for chronic complications are low,and the disease burden is heavy, with rapidly increasing medical expenses.Second, primary healthcare professionals have insufficient knowledge of treatment methods, limited medical resources, and poor patient compliance. The new healthcare reform offers new opportunities for urinary incontinence prevention and treatment in the community. In the context of the new healthcare reform, this paper discusses measures which are conducive to improving the effectiveness of urinary in-continence prevention and treatment in China. These measures revolve around the establishment of a tiered health-care system, medical technology innovation, drug price adjustments, and the development of community-based re-habilitation,offering insights for urinary incontinence prevention and treatment in Chinese communities.
