Current status and progress in the design of ureteral stents
Ureteral stents are common surgical instruments used in clinical practice by urologists. Many uro-logical surgeries require the use of ureteral stents, including almost all cases of urinary tract stone surgery,recon-struction surgery of the renal pelvis and ureter, which is of great significance for the recovery of patients. The placement of ureteral stents in the body may cause many stent-related symptoms, seriously affecting the patient's quality of life and experience. This article reviews the early design and evolution history of ureteral stents,innova-tions in the shape of the tail end, strategies for easy removal, anti reflux technology design, progress in main stem design, changes in diameter and length of ureteral stents, and the author's own innovative design. We discussed the impact of these design schemes and improvement measures on stent-related symptoms, and provided possible development directions for future ureteral stent design, aiming to help clinical physicians better choose and use u-reteral stents, and more effectively meet the personalized clinical needs of patients.
