Clinical application of three-dimensional image reconstruction in the analysis of variant blood vessels in horseshoe kidney with associated renal hydronephrosis
Objective:To explore the clinical application value of three-dimensional image reconstruction in evaluating the analysis of variant blood vessels in patients with horseshoe kidney combined with renal hydrone-phrosis.Methods:We collected clinical data of 25 patients with horseshoe kidney and associated renal hydrone-phrosis admitted to the Department of Urology,Peking University First Hospital from May 2017 to September 2023.Among them, there were 9 males and 16 females, with an average age of(34.8±12.3)years.All 25 pa-tients underwent preoperative urinary system enhanced computerized tomography(CT),and three-dimensional im-age reconstruction models were recreated using the original data from the enhanced CT.Based on the three-dimen-sional image reconstruction model, the number and course of the supply arteries in the isthmus of the horseshoe kidney,as well as the number, type, course, and adjacent relationship with the renal pelvis and ureter of the vari-ant blood vessels could be clearly observed. Results:Among the 25 patients,24 had supply arteries in the isth-mus;13 had variant blood vessels, among them there were 2 cases of variant arteries,5 cases of variant veins, and 6 cases of concurrent arteriovenous ectasia. All 25 patients underwent successful surgeries without the need for conversion to open surgery. The average intraoperative blood loss was(32.6±24.8)mL,and no blood trans-fusion was required during the perioperative period. Conclusion:Through three-dimensional image reconstruction technology,we can identify variant blood vessels in horseshoe kidney with associated renal hydronephrosis, which has certain clinical application value for the surgical treatment in clinical practice.
