Correlation analysis of serum S100 calcium binding protein A12 and soluble advanced glycation end-product receptor levels with osteoporosis in maintenance hemodialysis patients
Objective To investigate the changes of serum levels of S100 calcium binding protein A12(S100A12)and soluble advanced glycation end-product receptor(sRAGE)in maintenance hemodialysis(MHD)patients and their relationship with osteoporosis.Methods A total of 110 MHD patients treated in the hemodialysis room of our hospital from January 2020 to June 2022 were selected and divided into osteoporosis group(42 cases,T value≤-2.5g/cm2)and non-osteoporosis group(68 cases,T value>-2.5g/cm2)according to T value,and50 healthy subjects in our hospital in the same period were selected as control group.General data(gender,age,BMI,dialysis age)and clinical data of all subjects were collected and compared between groups.Pearson correlation analysis was used for correlation analysis.The predictive value of serum sRAGE and S100A12 levels for osteoporosis in patients with MHD was evaluated by using receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves.Multiple linear regression analysis was used to investigate the influencing factors of osteoporosis in MHD patients.Results Compared with control group,the levels of blood calcium,blood phosphorus,bone mineral density and sRAGE were decreased in non-osteoporosis group and osteoporosis group,while the levels of intact parathyroid hormone(iPTH),blood urea nitrogen(BUN),serum crea tinine(SCr),albumin(Alb)and S100A12 were increased(P<0.05).Compared with non-osteoporosis group patients,the serum levels of iPTH and S100A12 in osteoporosis group patients were increased,and the levels of blood phosphorus,bone mineral density and sRAGE were decreased(P<0.05).Pearson correlation analysis results showed that in MHD patients,serum sRAGE was negatively correlated with S100A12 expression;serum sRAGE was positively correlated with blood phosphorus and bone mineral density,but negatively correlated with iPTH;serum S100A12 was negatively correlated with blood phosphorus and bone mineral density,but positively correlated with iPTH(P<0.05).ROC curve analysis showed that the area under the ROC curve(AUC)and specificity of serum S100A12 combined with sRAGE in predicting osteoporosis of MHD patients were higher than those predicted by the two alone.Multiple linear regression analysis results showed that S100A12,sRAGE and iPTH were related to osteoporosis(P<0.05).Conclusion The occurrence of osteoporosis in MHD patients is closely related to sRAGE and S100A12,and the combined detection of the two can be used as indicators for the diagnosis of osteoporosis in MHD patients.
