Glioma is a common primary malignant intracranial tumor.Existing treatment modalities have limitations,as high-grade glioma often remains incurable even after surgical intervention and radiochemotherapy.HES1 belongs to the basic helix-loop-helix(BHLH)family of transcription factors and plays a crucial role in cell development, differentiation and proliferation. The role of HES1 in the progression and worsening of glioma has garnered significant attention. This review aims to explore the mechanistic role of HES1 in glioma development and its impact on treatment modalities by reviewing relevant studies and summarizing advancements in this field.
