Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics and treatment of aneurysmal bone cysts(ABCs).Methods The clinical data of a child with intracranial ABCs admitted to Guangzhou Women and Children's Medical Center in November 2018 were analyzed retrospectively, and the relevant literature were reviewed. Results The preoperative magnetic resonance(MRI)revealed a cystic lesion within the clivus of the occipital bone, the imaging features of which were consistent with ABCs.A piecemeal resection by transoropharyngal approach was performed uneventfully. The preoperative symptoms resolved. There was no recurrence during a follow-up period of 20 months. Conclusions Surgery is the main method for treating ABCs.An extremely rare case of a clival ABCs is reported and surgical resection is a safe and effective treatment.
