Effects of mesalazine combined with probiotics on inflammatory factors and intestinal mucosal barrier function in patients with mild-to-moderate ulcerative colitis
[Objective]To investigate the effects of mesalazine combined with probiotics on inflammatory factors and intestinal mucosal barrier function in patients with mild to moderate ulcerative colitis.[Meth-ods]A total of 80 patients with mild to moderate ulcerative colitis were selected and divided into observa-tion group(n=40)and control group(n=40)according to random number table method. The observation group was treated with probiotics combined with mesalazine, while the control group was treated with me-salazine alone.Clinical treatment effect, nutritional indexes such as serum albumin(ALB),pre-albumin(PAL),hemoglobin(HGB)and disease activity index(Sutherland)were compared between the two groups DAI score, erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR)level, urinary lactilose/mannitol(L/M),inflammatory in-terleukin-6(IL-6),tumor necrosis factor-A(TNF-A),C-reactive protein(CRP),intestinal flora and adverse reactions.[Results]After treatment, the total effective rate of the observation group was significantly high-er than that of the control group(92.5%vs75.00%,P<0.05).The levels of ALB,PAL and HGB in obser-vation group were higher than those in control group(P<0.05).Sutherland Dai score in observation group was lower than that in control group(P<0.05).The levels of ESR,L/M,Escherichia coli and Enterococcus in observation group were lower than those in control group, while the levels of Bifidobacterium and Lacto-bacillus in observation group were higher than those in control group(P<0.05).The levels of IL-6,TNF-αand CRP in observation group were lower than those in control group(P<0.05).After treatment, the ex-pression of fecal calprotectin in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, and there was significant difference between the groups(P<0.05).The total adverse reaction rate of observation group was significantly lower than that of control group(7.50%vs 20.00%,P<0.05).[Conclusion]For patients with mild to moderate ulcerative colitis, probiotics combined with mesalazine can not only improve the clinical efficacy, but also significantly improve the clinical symptoms, intestinal flora, inflammatory re-sponse,intestinal barrier function index, etc. At the same time, the adverse reaction rate is low, which is worthy of vigorous promotion and application in clinical practice.
