Analysis of factors of teicoplanin concentration in elderly critically ill patients
Objective To evaluate the factors influencing the trough concentration of teicoplanin in elderly critically ill patients and to provide a reference for clinical medication. Methods The pathophysiological data of patients treated with teicoplanin were retrospectively collected from March 2021 to February 2024 in Beijing Electric Power Hospital.Univariate analysis and multiple linear regression analysis were used to identify factors influencing the achievement of the target through the concentration of teicoplanin. Results A total of 72 elderly critically ill patients treated with teicoplanin were collected, with an average trough concentration of(15.1±7.6)μg/mL.Multiple linear regression revealed that the trough concentration of teicoplanin was correlated with albumin levels(t=2.262,P=0.027)and loading dose(t=2.980,P=0.004).Among patients who did not achieve the target trough concentration, the trough concentration of teicoplanin was correlated with the loading dose(t=2.059,P<0.05).Conclusion For elderly critically ill patients, albumin levels and loading dose are the primary factors influencing the trough concentration of teicoplanin.Among patients who fail to achieve the target trough concentration, the loading dose is the main influencing factor. In clinical treatment, these factors should be comprehensively considered, and therapeutic drug monitoring should be performed timely to adjust the medication regimen and achieve individualized treatment.
