Differences in clinical characteristics among patients with corona virus disease 2019 combined with fungal infections
Objective To analyze the differences in clinical characteristics among patients with corona virus disease 2019(COVID-19)combined with fungal infections. Methods Patients with COVID-19 combined with fungal infections admitted to Shenzhen Second People's Hospital from September 2022 to September 2023 were included. The differences in clinical characteristics among patients with different fungal infections were analyzed, and comparisons of clinical characteristics with statistical differences between the groups were conducted. Results A total of 196 patients were enrolled, with infections involving candida spp.,aspergillus spp.,mucor spp.,and mixed fungal infections.Compared to the candida spp.,aspergillus spp.,and mucor spp.groups, the mixed fungal infection group showed higher mortality rates, poorer immune status, higher rates of combined antifungal drug use, longer durations of antifungal treatment, and increased costs of antifungal treatment(P<0.05).Additionally,both the aspergillus spp.and mucor spp.groups showed longer durations of antifungal treatment and higher costs of antifungal treatment compared to the candida spp.groups(P<0.05).Conclusion Clinical characteristics differ among patients with COVID-19 combined with different fungal infections, and particular attention should be given to patients with COVID-19 combined with mixed fungal infections.
