Hyperbilirubinemia caused by sivelestat sodium:a case report
This article reported a case of a patient who was treated with sivelestat sodium due to acute respiratory distress syndrome, resulting in elevation of serum bilirubin and yellow staining of skin and sclera, while not accompanied by abnormal transaminase.Clinical pharmacists analyzed the relevance between clinical symptoms and drugs, considered it as an adverse reaction caused by sivelestat sodium and suggested the withdrawal of sivelestat sodium. After discontinuation of sivelestat sodium, bilirubin level of the case gradually decreased and basically recovered after 6 days of withdrawal. It was suggested that bilirubin level should be monitored when patients were treated with sivelestat sodium for more than 5 days to ensure drug safety.
