Ultrasound Guided Selective Lumbar Nerve Block Combined with Fengshi Qutong Capsule for The Treatment of Lumbar Disc Herniation
Objective To explore the efficacy of ultrasound-guided selective lumbar nerve block in combination with Fengshi Qutong capsules in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation(LDH).Methods A total of 84 patients with LDH were selected and divided into a combined group and a conventional group using random number generation:42 patients in the combined group received ultrasound-guided selective lumbar nerve root block treatment twice a week for three weeks,and took Fengshi Qutong capsules orally for three weeks;42 patients in the conventional group received only ultrasound-guided selective lumbar nerve block treatment,following the same protocol as the combined group.The Visual Analog Scale(VAS)was used to quantify the severity of low back pain and leg pain,and the Oswestry Disability Index(ODI)was used to measure the degree of disability.VAS and ODI scores for the patients'low back and legs were recorded before treatment,at the end of the treatment course,and three months after the treatment course,and the efficacy was observed.Results At the end of the treatment course,VAS and ODI scores for both groups significantly decreased compared to baseline,showing statistically significant differences(P<0.01).2).At the end of the treatment course,the combined treatment group exhibited lower lumbar and lower limb VAS scores than the conventional group[(2.04±1.06)scores vs(2.81±1.1)scores;(2.71±1.29)scores vs(3.28±1.25)scores],and there was statistically significant difference(P<0.05).while the ODI scores showed no statistically significant difference(P>0.05).Three months post-treatment,VAS and ODI scores in both groups increased slightly compared to the end of treatment but remained significantly lower in the combined treatment group than in the conventional group(P<0.05).Conclusion The combined application of ultrasound-guided selective lumbar nerve root block and Fengshi Qutong capsules can effectively relieve pain and improve function in patients with LDH,and reduce symptom recurrence.
