Efficacy of serum HDAC2 and TLR2 levels on evaluating prognosis of elderly patients with severe pneumonia complicated with respiratory failure
Objective To investigate the efficacy of serum histone deacetylase 2(HDAC2)and Toll-like receptor 2(TLR2)levels on evaluating the prognosis of elderly patients with severe pneumonia(SP)complicated with respiratory failure(RF).Methods Ninety-six elderly patients with SP combined with RF admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinxiang Medical College from April 2020 to May 2023 were selected as the observation group, and 96 healthy physical examination subjects in our hospital during the same period were selected as the control group.According to the disease outcome, the observation group was divided into survival group(n=74)and death group(n=22).The expression levels of serum HDAC2 and TLR2 in all subjects were detected by enzymal-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA),and the prognostic evaluation value of serum HDAC2 and TLR2 levels for elderly patients with SF combined with RF was evaluated by receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve. Results The serum HDAC2 and TLR2 levels in observation group were higher than those in control group, and those in death group were higher than those in survival group, the differences were significant(P<0.05).The AUC of serum HDAC2 and TLR2 in evaluating the prognosis of SP patients with RF was 0.796(95%CI:0.751~0.846)and 0.822(95%CI:0.778~0.872),respectively,and the AUC of the combined evaluation was 0.914(95%CI:0.859~0.964).Conclusions Serum HDAC2 and TLR2 levels are up-regulated in cases with SP combined with RF prognostic death, and there is a certain relationship between them and prognostic death of cases with SP combined with RF.Combined detection can improve the evaluation value of prognosis of patients with SP combined with RF.
