National Forest Trail Construction in the Bohai Rim Region with Ancient Ginkgo as Nodes
The development of long-distance hiking has objectively a demand for the construction of forest trails in the Bohai Rim Region.The ancient ginkgo is an important symbol of Chinese history and culture.Using the ancient ginkgo as nodes to build forest trails in Bohai Rim Region have important ecological,economic,and cultural significance.A survey was conducted for 161 ancient ginkgo trees at 128 locations in the Bohai Rim region to evaluating their suitability for region,tourism and construction.It is overall concluded that ancient ginkgo are suitable to be used as nodes for forest trails in Bohai Rim Region.Through comprehensive evaluation,it is found that there are a total of 117 ancient ginkgo trees in 100 locations that are suitable to be the trail nodes.Among them,32 ancient ginkgo trees are recommended as key nodes.A preliminary design is proposed for the selection of forest trails in the Bohai Rim region,with ginkgo trees as nodes.The forest trail consists of six lines as Dalian-Dandong-Qian'an Line,Beijing North Line,Beijing South Line,Yixian-Feicheng Line,Feicheng-Zibo-Haiyang Line,and Feicheng-Juxian-Rongcheng Line,all of which run along 96 ancient ginkgo trees in 79 locations,with a total length of approximately 7 352 km.Based on the feature of ancient ginkgo as the nodes of the Bohai Rim region's forest trails,suggestions are proposed to optimize the construction mechanism,protect the original ancient ginkgo trees,enhance the ecological protection along the trail,strengthen financial support,promote the use of the trail,and enhance the propagation of representative landscapes.
