Study of the role of activating transcription factor 3 in cancer progression
The activating transcription factor 3(ATF3)is a crucial transcriptional activator. It can regulate the biological behaviors of tumor cells such as proliferation, apoptosis, metastasis and invasion through other cytokines, ultraviolet radiation, genotoxicity factors, physiological stress, and mediation of multiple signaling pathways, thus playing an important role in the development of many malignant tumors. In recent years,ATF3 has been proved to play an oncogenic role in many cancers, such as gastric cancer, breast cancer and cervical cancer, but promotes cancer progression in a few other tumor and tissue types. This article provides a comprehensive review of the research progress on the relevance of ATF3 to cancer, aiming to offer theoretical foundations and novel avenues for the clinical personalized treatment of cancer.
