The thinking of Confucian classics plays an important role in ancient China's official ideology,and the study of the category of ancient literary theories cannot be separated from the analysis and discussion of Confucian thought.The characteris-tics of the Confucian thought,such as the application of Taoism,the seeking of the sage by the classics,the worship of author-ity,and the belief in the antiquity,are directly related to the generation and evolution of the categories of literary theory such as"Enlightenment","Culture and Nature","Strength of Character"and"Elegance".The thinking of Confucian classics provides a moral and cultural character for literary creation.Literature and Confucian classics intertwine to meet the political needs of feudal autocracy.
