Distinctive Countryside,Textual Cosmos and Web-Sense Aesthetics:A Study Based on the Short Videos Series of Once Upon a Time in the Square
The short video series Once Upon a Time in the Square by Director Xiao Ce is a representative work of Chinese new media art in recent years. The creators have presented distinctive images of the countryside in North China through the recon-struction of everyday life in the form of"spectacle"and the"parody"of classic movies. On the narrative level, the series gradual-ly improves the story world during the narrative process, and through parallel universes and cross-media narratives, the viewers are called upon to re-create the text and construct the textual cosmos of the"square".On the aesthetic level, the creators go deep into the"circle",integrate internet pop culture, and respond to the feedback of the pop-up screen in a timely manner to form a solid"web sense"aesthetic isomorphism between the work and the audience. This series has expanded the space for the reproduc-tion of Chinese images in the new media, but there is still the problem of set creative mode.
