Formal Experimentation and Life Thoughts in Exile:on the"Late Style"of Milan Kundera's Late Works
Milan Kundera's novels began to change after his exile from Czechoslovakia to France.Showing a strong critical and negative characteristic, the novels he created in France were more obscure and more difficult to understand than those of the Czech-oslovakian period, and this change reflected what Edward W.Said called the"late style".The reason for the change of Kundera's works is not only the change of the country and environment he was in,but also the fact that he had to face death directly in the late stage of his life, which made the proposition of his thinking start to turn inward. In terms of Kundera's works, this change is mainly manifested in the form and content of his texts. On the one hand,Kundera adopted the form experiments of author intervention and keywords writing, and led the development of modernist novels with the innovation of novel forms. On the other hand,he began to explore the life theme of forgetting and returning in his works, using writing to fight against the originally irresistible forgetting, refusing to return with the eternal exile, and banishing himself completely on the road of art of novel.
