Using tomato as the experimental plant, the effects of coconut bran, river sand and yellow phosphorus residue substrate on tomato plant growth, fruit quality and yield are studied using a nutrient solution recycling model, the economic benefits of three substrates are analyzed. The results show that under the water and fertilizer recycling model based on in-situ monitoring of substrate water content, the irrigation amounts of river sand, yellow phosphorus residue and coconut bran during the entire growth period of tomato are 1 665.3,1 470.2 and 1 969.9 m3/hm2 respectively. The tomato yield under river sand treatment is significantly reduced by 9.7%compared to that under coconut bran treatment, while the tomato yield under yellow phosphorus residue treatment is significantly reduced by 16.4%.However,the hardness, vitamin C,water-soluble solids of tomato fruit under yellow phosphorus residue treatment are increased by 25.8%,33.2%,6.2%respectively compared to that under coconut bran treatment. The results of economic benefit analysis show that yellow phosphorus residue can significantly reduce substrate costs and inputs, the economic benefit is comparable to river sand cultivation, which is 5.7%lower than coconut bran cultivation.
