A review of research on nitrogen and phosphorus metabolism and sustainable management
Nitrogen and phosphorus metabolism are two of the most basic metabolic processes in ecosystems and human social development. In recent years, the attention of nitrogen and phosphorus research continues to grow, and the related research mainly focuses on nitrogen and phosphorus cycling process, footprint analysis, environmental pollution and policy management, etc. The research methodology involves elemental flow analysis, life cycle analysis, footprint analysis, ecological network analysis, evaluation index system, scenario analysis and optimization, etc.,and comprehensively evaluates the current status of nitrogen and phosphorus metabolism and its sustainable management under each dimension at the spatial scales of the global, national, regional, urban and industrial levels. The existing studies mainly focus on the dimensions of agri-food system,human-driven factors, environmental effect evaluation and waste resource management, and there are limitations such as insufficient attention to the coupling relationship in the macro perspective and the application in the field of energy system.A prospective analysis of the future nitrogen-phosphorus metabolism and sustainable management is carried out,in order to promote a more comprehensive and effective nitrogen-phosphorus resource management strategy.
